  Inspired by Anita Sarkeesian’s Video Game Tropes vs Women, I wanted to pitch a Zelda game where Zelda herself was the hero, rescuing a Prince Link. 

  Clockwork Empire is set 2,000 years after Twilight Princess, and is not a reboot, but simply another iteration in the Zelda franchise. It just so happens that in this case, Zelda is the protagonist. I’m a very big Zelda fan, and worked hard to draw from key elements in the continuity and mythos.

  This concept work is meant to show that Zelda as a game protagonist can be both compelling and true to the franchise, while bringing new and dynamic game elements that go farther than being a simple gender swap.

  Hope you like it!

  While Nintendo isn’t likely to do something like this themselves, It would fit just as excellently into its own original setting.

  If you get an indie developer to do something with this, please bring me on board for concept art, tia.

  I cannot described how much I would want this. While tote-female games are *SLIGHTLY* falling into the past, they are not falling fast enough. Games these days focus more on the father-daughter tote rescue, and hey…I’m cool with that, it is good for games to drop outside the I’M GONNA RESCUE THAT TO GET LAID boring washed out plotline in which honestly, who gives a shit? But we don’t have enough games like this, actually, I cannot think of any with male totes- where the guy gets kidnapped and has to be rescued. I’m aware that the tote plot is an easy story set up that can develop as it goes by, but does it always have to be a female character that gets kidnapped?  And why not, far as I’m aware guys don’t particularly mind if they play a female lead character, in fact some of the most popular games like Portal and Tomb Raider have female leads. Not ENOUGH games but you get my point.

  He basically turned Zelda into Link and vice versa. I would love for Zelda to be playable and a heroine in a LoZ game, but she’s a character in her own right. She can stay as Zelda and still be a badass mage-heroine-person. I’ve always wanted her to be playable for parts of a Zelda game, but Zelda is Zelda and Link is Link. We’ve seen in so many games how they can be different but still have what makes them themselves (Ocarina of Time and Skyward Sword, for example). Zelda has played a bunch of different roles, but she hasn’t been Link, because we have Link to be that (he’s also been different things, but not Zelda. Hmm.). 

  Aside from that, wouldn’t the total role reversal mess with the already confusing continuity anyway? Unless I’m remembering something wrong.

  I’m also pretty sure this has been done a million times on DeviantArt and other sites like it (though probably not with art as pretty or as well-developed a universe/plot/whatever, but yeah)

  Just had to rant, seeing how much attention this has been getting.

  I did not expect to like Real Steel

  because I thought it would be shallow and full of clichés

  It is really cliché, but it works.

  Dakota Goyo was adorable too (and it helps that he was in Rise of the Guardians hee)
